Anti-bullying Week and Relax Kids
Last week the class celebrated Kindness Week with difference activities. The boys and girls wrote a compliment for every other boy and girl in the class, a nice way of boosting each other's self-confidence and self-esteem. Odd Sock Day last Wednesday celebrated diversity and emphasised the importance of embracing differences and encouraging more inclusivity within our classroom, school, community and in society in general.
The class enjoyed their first Relax session with Andrea where they practised developing their meta-cognitive skills, discussing how their brain works and why they sometimes experience strong emotions. Most importantly, the boys and girls are beginning to consider some strategies they can use to respond to big emotions. We look forward to more sessions with Andrea in the coming weeks.
This week we enjoyed another session with Andrea and we also started the Olympics movement break series, 'Dare to Believe'. A fun and challenging dance kicked off the series and we look forward to engaging in more movement breaks in class going forward.
